Is the judge entitled to rule that the mother alone has custody of the daughter, while the rest of the children remain with the father, without specifying the manner of visitation or the duration of custody?

The custody of young children after the separation of the spouses belongs to the mother, unless there is an impediment to her custody. Scholars have differed on the age at which custody ends. Some are of the view that a girl should be with her father after the age of seven, and a boy should be given the choice, while others believe that both should be given the choice. The judge's ruling resolves the dispute. The custodian is not allowed to prevent the other party from seeing and visiting the child. If the parents dispute over visitation matters, the Sharia judge is the one who resolves the conflict. Therefore, either the spouses agree on custody and visitation, or the matter is referred to the Sharia court.
