What is the ruling on praying behind an Imam who substitutes similar-sounding letters? Is the prayer valid behind him, based on the opinion of the later Hanafis, or is their opinion void and contrary to scholarly consensus? And what should I do if I am praying behind him; should I discontinue the prayer?

Some scholars have overlooked letters with similar points of articulation due to the difficulty of avoiding them and the widespread nature of this issue. This is a strong opinion. Accordingly, there is no harm in adopting it and acting upon it, especially for those afflicted with scrupulosity. One should continue to pray behind someone whose situation is such.
