What is the expiation for adultery, and is going for 'Umrah encouraged in this case?

Fornication is one of the gravest sins and indecencies. Allah has threatened those who commit it with a multiplied torment on the Day of Judgment, except for those who repent, believe, and perform righteous deeds. The fornicator's claim that he could not control himself is not an excuse, because reaching such a state is preceded by a negligence of Allah's boundaries. The repentant person must increase their acts of seeking forgiveness and perform expiatory righteous deeds such as prayer, fasting, charity, and 'Umrah, and avoid the causes leading to fornication, such as seclusion, gazing, immodest display, and speaking with non-mahram individuals. Prayer and remembrance of Allah are strong fortresses that deter from indecency and evil.
