Does a divorce take place after swearing not to remove the door "today" if the door is removed the following day due to a car accident? And how is this "day" calculated?

The majority of scholars hold that swearing by divorce and making it conditional upon an event results in divorce if the condition is violated, and this is the prevailing fatwa. However, some, like Ibn Taymiyyah, are of the opinion that the ruling on such an oath—if the intention was not divorce but rather intimidation—is the same as swearing by Allah, requiring an expiation for an oath (kaffarat yameen) and not resulting in divorce. This latter view is practiced in most Sharia courts.

The preponderant view to us is to consider the intention in an oath and prioritize it over the apparent wording, based on the statement of Ibn Qudamah that the foundation of an oath is built upon the intention of the one swearing it. It is advised to consult scholars directly to ascertain the intention and act upon their fatwa. It should be noted that the permissible oath is by Allah Almighty, and swearing by divorce is among the oaths of the dissolute and should be avoided.
