What is the ruling regarding some worshippers remaining seated in the صف (row) after the Tarawih prayer during the Shafa and Witr prayers, which causes gaps in the row and prevents its continuity?

Perhaps the youth have heard the hadith of Abu Dharr, may Allah be pleased with him: "Whoever stands with the Imam until he departs, it will be recorded for him as having spent the night in prayer," and the hadith of Ibn 'Umar: "Make your last prayer of the night an odd number (witr)." They thus assumed that sitting with the Imam until he departs fulfills this for them, but this is a mistaken understanding. The intention behind the first hadith is prayer, not sitting. Furthermore, this sitting involves breaking the row, which is forbidden. The correct approach is for them to pray the even (shaf') and odd (witr) with the Imam without intending the witr. Then, when the Imam gives the salutation, they stand up and perform one rak'ah.
