What is the ruling on doubting the ritual purity of some items (especially children's clothes) after they have been used by relatives who are unconcerned with cleanliness, and what should a wife do who suffers from obsessive-compulsive disorder and fears the transfer of impurity, when her husband prevents her from washing them for fear of aggravating her obsession?

Obsessive whispering (waswasah) is a chronic disease, and its cure lies in ignoring it and paying no attention to it. It is not permissible to bear grudges against children because of it, as they do not intend harm. One must fear Allah and avoid burdening them with a sin they did not commit. Waswasah is a tribulation from Allah that requires patience and striving to overcome. Unless you are certain of its impurity, do not wash it. If you are certain of its impurity, then wash only the affected area. The fundamental principle is purity, and certainty is not removed by doubt.
