Is concealing food from some people to avoid their eating habits, or concealing special food, considered a sin or mere misgivings?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

Feeding others is one of the best acts of devotion, especially when it is for the poor and the needy. Islam has encouraged it and promised paradise to those who perform it.

It is not a condition to eat with those one feeds, though it is better. Feeding from good and beloved things is superior and more complete, as Allah Almighty says: ﴿You will not attain righteousness until you spend from that which you love.﴾ [Al 'Imran: 92]. However, there is no objection to spending from other things, and there is no sin in a person concealing some of their food or possessions for themselves.
