What are the Prophet's warnings and admonitions to women for their own good in this life and the Hereafter?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

All خطاب (discourse) addressed to men also includes women, unless there is specific textual evidence that restricts it. Among the matters from which women have been warned are: excessive cursing, ungratefulness towards their husbands, cursing of tattooists (al-washimat), those who pluck eyebrows (al-namisat), and those who create gaps between their teeth for beauty (al-mutafallijat lil-husn), cursing of frequent visitors of graves, being prohibited from actions performed at the death of a close relative, and being prohibited from blatant display of their adornment (tabarruj).

Among the commanded matters are: a woman gifting her neighbor even something small, obeying her husband in what is good and permissible (ma'ruf), walking on the sides of the road, and avoiding mingling with men.

For more details, one can refer to the book "Ahkam An-Nisa'" by Imam Ahmad and "Ishrat An-Nisa'" by An-Nasa'i.
