What is the ruling on the prayer of a patient with kidney failure who misses the times for the Asr and Maghrib prayers during a dialysis session? Should he pray these two prayers on the bed while not facing the Qiblah, or should he wait until he finishes the session and pray them with the Isha prayer?

It is not permissible to delay the 'Asr prayer until the time of Maghrib begins. Pray according to your ability: standing, and if you are unable, then sitting, and if you are unable, then on your side, even if you are lying down on a bed and not facing the Qiblah. A sick person may combine the Dhuhr and 'Asr prayers by performing them early (taqdiman), and the Maghrib and 'Isha prayers by delaying them (ta'khiran). The emission of blood from the body – such as during kidney dialysis – does not nullify ablution (wudu'), for what nullifies ablution is only what exits from the two private parts. It is permissible to combine prayers for someone undergoing kidney dialysis, and coordination with the doctor is necessary to avoid the prayer time expiring. As for fasting, if the dialysis contains nourishing substances that break the fast, then the patient should break their fast and feed a poor person for each day if their illness is permanent, or make up the fast if it is temporary. However, if it does not nourish, then it does not break the fast.
