What is the ruling on holding a Hadra (a Sufi gathering for remembrance of God) on the anniversary of the husband's death, in the manner of Sheikh Ibrahim al-Disuqi, along with performing Tarawih prayers and completing the recitation of the Qur'an in Ramadan? And what is the ruling on the attendance of those who do not participate in it or those who serve those who do?

What is known as "Al-Hadra" and is held in commemoration of a person's death is an innovation (bid'ah), based on the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "Whoever introduces into this affair of ours anything that does not belong to it will have it rejected," and "Every innovation is a misguidance." It is not permissible to perform these "Hadras." Whoever wishes to do good for their deceased should give charity. It is not permissible for a person to participate in them, whether by offering services or otherwise, due to Allah's saying: (And do not cooperate in sin and aggression). Nor is it permissible to attend them except with the intention of denouncing them and then leaving.
