It is well-known that the awaited Mahdi will be a man from the household of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, who will support the religion and establish justice, and Muslims will follow him. There are no Qur'anic verses indicating his appearance; rather, his advent is one of the signs of the Hour, as stated in the Hadith: "The world will not come to an end until a man from my household, whose name matches my name, rules the Arabs." As for rumors such as the moon descending, these are superstitions that are not to be taken seriously. Matters of the unseen can only be established by what is authentically reported from the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, for Allah Almighty says: "And whatever the Messenger has given you—take it; and what he has forbidden you—refrain from it."
