What is the ruling of Islamic law concerning a husband who prevents his wife from wearing the hijab, claims that covering the awrah (intimate parts) is non-existent, and threatens to expel her from the home if she wears the hijab, knowing that he is a hafiz of the Quran and the wife lives in France?

The Muslim woman is obligated to observe hijab when she leaves her home or is in the presence of non-mahram men. The husband has no right to prevent his wife from wearing hijab; rather, he must help and encourage her to do so, because obedience to a creature is not permissible if it involves disobedience to Allah. The wife should advise her husband, clarify the Islamic ruling for him, and pray for his guidance. If he does not respond, she must remain steadfast in her hijab, even if it leads to divorce, for Allah will compensate her with something better. However, if wearing hijab causes unbearable harm, then Allah has permitted the distressed to commit what is otherwise forbidden.
