Is the niqab an obligation or not, and if the more cautious opinion is not adopted, would that be considered a disservice to oneself?

Differences among jurists are common in many jurisprudential issues, such as the matter of covering the face. Each side has its evidence, and what is preponderant to us is the obligation to cover the face. Every diligent scholar issues rulings based on what he deems preponderant.

As for those who lack knowledge of the methods of argumentation and preferencing, they must ask the people of knowledge and act upon what they have been given as a fatwa, in accordance with His, the Almighty’s, saying: "So ask the people of the message if you do not know." As for the student of knowledge, he acts upon what he finds preponderant.

It must be emphasized that it is not permissible to switch between muftis seeking an easier opinion. Wearing the niqab has become easier than before, and adherence to Allah's law during widespread tribulations increases the reward.
