What is the ruling on a committed man studying and working in medicine, given the existing prohibitions such as: seclusion [with a non-mahram woman], touching female patients, and uncovering 'awrah (parts of the body that must be covered)? And how can these be avoided? And what is the meaning of "limiting one's gaze to the extent of need"?

It is not advisable to abandon the study or practice of medicine, as it is of great benefit. Imam Al-Shafi'i regretted its neglect by Muslims. However, one must avoid forbidden acts and observe the Shariah guidelines. One should also be wary of excessive questioning and delving too deeply into matters, as it is blameworthy and may open the door to obsessive doubts (waswasa).
