Some of my relatives have not prayed for years, and I am wondering about advising them not to fast in Ramadan. I find it difficult to convince them to pray, and I myself have make-up prayers from previous years. I am asking about the acceptance of supererogatory (nafl) and sunnah prayers while there are missed prayers that I have not yet begun to make up, even though I recorded them months ago.

All praise is due to Allah. Do not tell those who fast but do not pray that their fasting is not accepted, for one who fasts but does not pray is better than one who neither prays nor fasts. Warn them against abandoning prayer and explain to them its gravity, and that it is more serious than adultery, theft, and drinking alcohol. Command them to pray and fast, and supplicate for them. If they are your mahram, advise them directly. Otherwise, let the advice be conveyed through your male mahrams or their female mahrams. As for missed prayers, you must make them up immediately, before voluntary prayers.
