Is it permissible to profit from money placed in an interest-based bank due to the unavailability of an Islamic bank, a place to spend the money, or a place to keep it at home?

It is not permissible to deposit money in a usurious bank for investment or safekeeping, because it is based on usury, and the one who deposits money in it assists the bank in a forbidden act. However, scholars have made an exception for cases of extreme necessity for safeguarding or transferring money if there is no Islamic institution available to do so. Usurious banks do not engage in permissible Murabaha or Mudaraba; their operations are limited solely to lending and borrowing with interest (riba).
