Should a man abandon a voluntary fast to please his mother, who asks him to do so, yet refuses for him to break the fast once he has started it?

If the mother objects to her son breaking his fast during the day, he should complete his fast, and he will have the reward for both fasting and filial piety. As for initiating a fast without the mother's consent, please refer to Fatwa no. 34428.
