What is the merit of reading the surahs of the Qur'an, and what are the hadiths that mention their merit?

Allah Almighty has favored some of His words over others, as evidenced by His saying: "Whatever a verse We abrogate or cause to be forgotten, We bring forth [one] better than it or similar to it," and His saying: "And We have sent down to you the Book in truth, confirming what was before it of the Scripture and a guardian over it." Ibn Taymiyyah also affirmed that preferring some parts of the Quran over others is evident, citing the hadith regarding the superiority of Ayatul Kursi. He also mentioned that there are authentic, weak, and fabricated hadiths concerning the virtues of surahs and verses, and advised referring to authentic Sunnah books to learn about the virtues of the Quran.
