Does slight doubt about the number of prostrations resulting from absentmindedness during prayer necessitate the prostration of forgetfulness (sujud al-sahw), and must the prayer in which this absentmindedness occurred be repeated?

One who is overwhelmed by doubt and experiences it frequently is not required to perform the prostration of forgetfulness (sujud al-sahw), even if this is due to absentmindedness. Some jurists, however, consider it commendable to perform the prostration of forgetfulness after the salutations (taslim) for one who is overwhelmed by doubt, as a way to vex Satan.
