Does surgically inserting a tube into a patient's body to drain urine invalidate the fast?

Inserting a tube into a patient's body to drain urine and waste from their abdomen does not invalidate the fast of a fasting person, because it is not food or drink, nor is it analogous to them. Sheikh Ibn Uthaymeen clarified that whatever takes the place of eating and drinking is given their ruling, and whatever does not is not given their ruling. He held that inserting an endoscope into the stomach does not invalidate the fast unless it contains oil or the like that reaches the stomach, and similarly, inserting something through an opening in the abdomen does not invalidate the fast unless this opening is used in place of the mouth for introducing food and drink. Sheikh Sulaiman Al-Majid also mentioned that catheterization does not invalidate the fast of a fasting person because it is neither eating nor drinking, nor is it of the same category as other things that invalidate the fast.
