Does working for a shipping company that allows customers to add insurance for a certain amount to their shipments make the job unlawful (haram), or fall under the category of usury (riba), or necessitate the curse of Allah?

Working in shipping is permissible if the goods being shipped are lawful according to Sharia. Commercial insurance is forbidden because it involves usury (riba) and gambling (maysir). Allah has prohibited usury, and the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, forbade transactions involving gharar (excessive uncertainty). Endorsing an insurance transaction falls under theclusion of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, of the scribe of usury and its two witnesses. It is not permissible for a Muslim to work in a company whose operations involve usury and forbidden transactions, as this constitutes aiding in sin. A Muslim must be keen on working in lawful professions, for whoever abandons something for the sake of Allah, Allah will compensate him with something better.
