What is the ruling on fasting for two unspecified years, whether intermittently or consecutively, and is expiation obligatory or not, and what is the ruling on the month of Ramadan beginning for the one who made the vow?

Originally, making a vow (nadhr) is disliked because the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, forbade it. However, if someone makes a vow to perform an act of obedience to Allah, then it is obligatory for them to fulfill it. If they are unable to fulfill it, then they must offer an expiation for breaking an oath (kaffarat yameen). It is not a condition for the fasting of the vow to be continuous unless you intended that. Similarly, it is not obligatory to fulfill it immediately unless the wording of the vow demanded it. However, it is preferable to hasten in fulfilling it.
