Is it obligatory for someone who prayed with clothes containing impurity—such as one afflicted with urinary incontinence (sils al-bawl) or prostatic discharge (al-wady)—due to an inability to change during travel, to repeat the prayer when able to do so?

If one finds only a ritually impure garment and is unable to purify it, they should pray in it. However, they must repeat the prayer according to Imam Ahmad and Malik (as long as the time for the prayer persists). Sheikh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah and others hold the view that repeating the prayer is not obligatory, and this is the more preponderant opinion, based on the principle that Allah does not burden a soul beyond its capacity.

However, if washing the garment is possible without harm, then repeating the prayer is obligatory because you prayed with impurity despite being able to remove it, especially if it was possible to place a barrier between the clothes and the urine.

The Malikis pardon impurities resulting from incontinence, as it is difficult to guard against them.
