Is a woman divorced with a first, revocable pronouncement, whose waiting period has ended, considered to have been taken back if her husband did not inform her of that, and what is incumbent upon her to do? And is it necessary for the wife to be taken back by the same ma’dhoun (authorized marriage official) who issued the divorce?

A husband may take back his revocably divorced wife during her iddah (waiting period) without requiring her presence or knowledge. It is recommended to have witnesses to the reconciliation, and some scholars have stated it is obligatory. If the husband claims to have reconciled with her after the iddah has ended, he is required to provide proof (testimony of two witnesses), unless the woman confirms his claim. If the woman marries after the iddah, and her first husband then proves with evidence that he reconciled with her during the iddah, she is returned to him.
