What is the ruling on taking pictures of myself with my phone for memories?

The preponderant opinion is that it is permissible to take photographic pictures of living beings for remembrance and similar purposes, and this is not among the prohibited types of photography. Photography with a mobile phone is easier, and many have permitted it because it is digital photography where the image only appears through a device, similar to video recording. Pictures on a mobile phone, computer, or video do not take the ruling of photographic prints due to their impermanence unless they are printed. It is safer for a woman to avoid photographing herself because her image might be exposed to publication to those for whom it is not permissible to look at it.
