Is it permissible to remain in a mixed-gender work environment where forbidden acts are prevalent, and pork is served, while feeling distress and psychological and physical exhaustion? Does this contradict the concept of earning a livelihood and striving to obtain it, or is patience with these circumstances obligatory to please one's family and achieve material gain, represented by building a house?

Sustenance is guaranteed and predestined, and exerting lawful efforts is a religious requirement. Obedience increases sustenance, while disobedience may deprive one of it. It is not permissible to continue working if there is unlawful mixing, or the presence of reprehensible acts, or temptations that lead to indecencies. Obedience to parents in continuing this work is not obligatory, because obedience is only in what is good, and there is no harm to the child in it. "And whoever fears Allah - He will make for him a way out and will provide for him from where he does not expect." Marriage is also a means of sustenance.
