Does lifting one's forehead from the ground during prostration—to adjust towards the Qiblah or to change its position—invalidate the prayer, especially if the worshiper is prone to ওয়াসওয়াসা (obsessive doubts) or if it happened out of forgetfulness? Is it permissible to follow the fatwa of Sheikh Ibn Baz, who considers this a form of 'abath (fidgeting) and does not invalidate the prayer?

It is advisable to dismiss obsessive thoughts and not dwell on them. A slight deviation from the Qibla does not invalidate the prayer. Lifting the forehead and then placing it back down in prostration (sujud) is not permissible without a need. However, if there is a need to lift it and quickly put it back down, the prayer is not invalidated; rather, it is considered a single prostration. Nevertheless, ṭuma’nīnah (tranquility) is an essential condition. If it is achieved before lifting for a valid excuse, you should not repeat the prostration, as this might invalidate the prayer according to some scholars. As for lifting or moving the head left and right to rest during prostration, it is makruh (disliked) as it is a form of ʿabath (frivolous action), and it might invalidate the prayer if it becomes excessive and continuous. However, the prostration remains valid if the forehead is lifted slightly and then placed back down.
