Are there snakes and scorpions in Hell?

The hadith describing the presence of snakes and scorpions in Hellfire, and the severity of their stings, revolves around Darraj Abu Al-Samh, whose reliability has been disputed. Those who deemed him weak also deemed the hadith weak due to his sole narration of it. Conversely, those who authenticated him, authenticated the hadith, including Al-Hakim, Al-Dhahabi, and Al-Albani. Furthermore, Abdullah ibn Mas'ud's interpretation of the verse: (We shall add to them torment upon torment) as "scorpions whose fangs are like tall palm trees" attests to their existence, as does Abdullah ibn Amr's narration about the shores of Jahannam which contain snakes and scorpions. These narrations corroborate each other and establish that the existence of snakes and scorpions in Hellfire has a basis.
