What is the ruling on showering every day, and how often did the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) shower?

It is permissible to take a bath daily for cleanliness. The recommended baths are on Friday, the Day of Arafah, the Day of Sacrifice (Yawm al-Nahr), and the Day of Eid al-Fitr. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) also took a bath upon recovering from unconsciousness, for assuming ihram, and for entering Mecca. The recommended baths for Hajj are: the bath for ihram, for entering Mecca, and for standing at Arafah. Sheikh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah stated that baths other than these, such as bathing for stoning the Jamarat, circumambulating (Tawaf), and spending the night in Muzdalifah, have no basis and are an innovation, unless there is a reason necessitating the recommendation, such as removing an odor that would bother people.
