What is the ruling on aborting a fetus in the fifth month if the reason and gender are unknown?

Aborting a fetus is unlawful (haram) in Islamic law because it is an assault on a life (nasama), and its prohibition becomes even stronger after the ensoulment. The wife is not held responsible if her fetus aborts without any cause or deliberate action on her part. She is subject to the rulings of nifas (postnatal bleeding) if the fetus is fully formed when it exits, and the inability to determine the gender of the fetus does not affect this ruling.
