Is it sufficient to perform ghusl with the intention for the most recent janabah to cover previous states of janabah for which I did not perform ghusl for years due to ignorance?

A single ghusl (ritual bath) is sufficient for multiple states of janabah (major ritual impurity), even if many such states have accumulated. So, if someone incurred states of janabah for years and did not perform ghusl out of ignorance, then later performed ghusl intending only the most recent janabah, without intending to remove the previous states of janabah, this ghusl is sufficient for all of them. However, if they intended that the ghusl would not include the previous states of janabah, then they must perform a new ghusl to remove those previous states. Furthermore, they must make up the prayers they performed while in a state of janabah, and they should continue making up prayers until they are reasonably certain that they have fulfilled their obligation. This is the view of the majority of jurists.
