How many pillars does prayer have?

Scholars have differed on the number of pillars of prayer. The Hanbalis held that they are fourteen, twelve, or ten. The Shafi'is held that they are eighteen, seventeen, thirteen, or fourteen. The Malikis held that they are fifteen, and the Hanafis held that they are six. Therefore, what the questioner heard from the aforementioned man might be an adherence to the opinion of some scholars.
