Whoever vows to fast consecutively and breaks their fast due to an excuse does not break the continuity of their fast. However, if they break their fast without an excuse, the continuity is broken, and they must restart the entire period. If fulfilling the vow is difficult or impossible for the one who made the vow, they are not obliged to fulfill it and must pay the expiation for an oath (kaffarat yamin).
