Is it correct to describe the descendants of Al-Hasan and Al-Husayn and "Ali al-Mahdi" with the term "Imam"?

An Imam is one who is followed and emulated. The application of this title varies depending on the reason for emulation. An Imam can be a person whose words or actions are followed, or a book, whether it is based on truth or falsehood. Prophets, Caliphs, judges, and jurists are called Imams because it is obligatory to follow them. Similarly, one who leads people in prayer is called an Imam because whoever joins his prayer must follow him. The term "Imam" in the political sense cannot be applied to anyone from the descendants of Al-Hasan and Al-Husayn (may Allah be pleased with them) except the Mahdi of the End of Time. However, in terms of being an example in goodness and religiosity, many of their descendants are Imams of goodness and guidance.
