How can someone involved in an illicit relationship, who is married, leave this relationship despite feeling regret and pity for the other party, and their desire not to continue in it, given the difficulty of cutting it off, especially since they are alone and their children are in another country?

You are in a great tribulation because of heedlessness and falling into the snares of Satan. The cure for this is easy if you are sincere in your intention and truthful with your Lord. The cure is summarized as follows:

1. Bring your family to the country where you reside, if possible.

2. If not possible, then return to your country and cut off all communication with this woman.

3. If there is a pressing need to stay, then strive to distance yourself from this woman and remember your fate if you were to meet your Lord in this state. Remember that you have committed an act of disbelief by abandoning prayer and have sold your religion for your worldly life.

4. Our advice to you is to attach yourself strongly to the mosque and spend your free time there with the righteous. If you do so, your love for her will turn into hatred, because you will have begun to see with the eye of truth.
