Is there anything that legally (according to Islamic law) prevents the reformatting of the Holy Quran?

It is not permissible to reformat the Holy Quran from its current established ضبط (vocalization and orthography) because it is the scholarly effort of great imams, which the Ummah has accepted, and it preserves the purity of the pronunciation of the Book of Allah. It is also not permissible to change the order of its verses and chapters, as this order is tawqeefi (divinely ordained and fixed) from the Prophet, peace be upon him, by the consensus of the Ummah, and it conforms to what is in the Preserved Tablet (Al-Lawh Al-Mahfuz).
