What is the ruling on marrying a Christian girl who is pregnant, does not wish to embrace Islam, insists on raising the child in her religion, and refuses marriage in the Islamic way, knowing that the questioner wants his son to be nothing but a Muslim?

The Muslim's residence in lands of disbelievers poses a danger to his religion and morals, and its ill effects have become apparent in the commission of fornication. Sincere repentance is obligatory, by severing the forbidden relationship, feeling remorse, and resolving not to return to it. It is not permissible to marry a non-chaste disbelieving woman. As for marrying a woman with whom one has committed fornication and who is pregnant with his child, the majority of scholars state that it is not permissible except after she gives birth, and the child is not attributed to the fornicator according to the majority. However, some scholars have permitted the marriage contract with a woman pregnant from fornication and attributed the child to the fornicator if the woman has no other legitimate bed (i.e., is not married). If the child is attributed to you, then he follows you in religion. Abortion is a great crime and a grave evil unless there is a necessity that threatens the mother's life. We advise you to invite the woman to Islam; if she embraces Islam, then marry her, otherwise, leave her and marry a chaste Muslim woman, while striving in repentance and increasing good deeds.
