Is using a credit card to purchase a travel ticket with the intention of early repayment considered a sin if repayment becomes impossible at the specified time and usurious interest accrues, and does the punishment for consuming usury apply to the perpetrator in this case?

It is not permissible to obtain or use this card because it involves two prohibitions: signing a declaration of usury (riba), and the potential of falling into usury if one delays payment. It is permissible to use it only in cases of dire necessity and to the extent that the necessity is averted. Whoever does not have such a necessity commits a sin, and the sin increases with delayed payment and falling into usury, along with the obligation to repent. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) cursed the one who consumes usury, the one who feeds it, its scribe, and its two witnesses.
