If I leave my initial location in Arafat for another location in front of Masjid Namirah, does that invalidate the Hajj because the second location is outside the boundaries of Arafat? Is it a condition to remain in Arafat until Zawwal (noon), or are a few hours sufficient? And does spending the night outside the boundaries of Muzdalifah invalidate the Hajj?
If a person remains within the boundaries of 'Arafah on the 9th day of Dhul-Hijjah after the sun has passed its meridian, he has fulfilled the pillar of standing. His subsequent departure from it does not affect this according to the majority of scholars. However, if he departs before sunset and remains outside of 'Arafah, then proceeds to Muzdalifah without standing in 'Arafah after sunset, he owes a compensatory sacrifice (dam) according to most scholars. The time for standing in 'Arafah begins after the sun passes its meridian according to the majority of scholars, in contrast to the Hanbalis who hold that it begins at dawn. According to the view of the majority, standing before the sun passes its meridian is not sufficient.
