Is the fear of rendering oneself an infidel due to obsessive religious doubts, and imagining that self-talk is apostasy, considered among the actions of the Khawarij or deviant sects?

Thoughts and intrusive whispers that cross one's mind are not held against a person as long as they do not speak of them or act upon them. This is based on the Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: "Indeed, Allah has pardoned for my Ummah whatever they whisper to themselves, as long as they do not speak of it or act upon it." One should not dwell on such thoughts. If Satan reaches him with the question, "Who created your Lord?", he should seek refuge in Allah and stop; based on the Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: "Satan comes to one of you and says: 'Who created this? Who created that?' until he says: 'Who created your Lord?' If he reaches that point, let him seek refuge in Allah and stop."

It is advised to frequently remember Allah, occupy oneself with beneficial activities such as learning and inviting others to Allah, and permissible recreation, and to turn away from obsessive whispering by saying: "I believe in Allah." This is based on the Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: "People will continue to ask questions until it is said: 'This is Allah's creation; so, who created Allah?' Whoever finds something of that, let him say: 'I believe in Allah.'"
