How should a girl interact with her sister's husband? Is it permissible to joke with him in the presence of a mahram or his wife?

It is permissible for a woman to participate in a discussion attended by her sister's husband, provided she observes the hijab (veil), ensures there is no fitna (temptation/strife), and avoids khalwa (private seclusion). However, it is preferable to avoid this to avert fitna and the loss of modesty (haya'). It is permissible for a woman to go out with her sister and her sister's husband, as long as it is not a journey, and the presence of the sister removes the issue of khalwa. As for joking with the sister's husband, it is not permissible, as it falls under the category of "softening the speech," which is forbidden by Islamic law.
