Is it permissible not to enjoin good and forbid evil in matters of dispute among the four schools of thought?
Muslims must advise one another, enjoin what is right, and forbid what is wrong. What is established by شرعي (Sharia) evidence as wrong must be forbidden, and it is not permissible to imitate an opinion that contradicts the evidence. One who imitates an Imam is excused and not considered a fasiq (transgressor) until the evidence is made clear to him. In matters where the فقهاء (jurists) have differed without a clear نص (textual proof), one should be guided to what is more pious and more cautious, and one who imitates one of the opinions is excused. What is considered right, but there is a difference of opinion regarding its obligation, should be enjoined, for its doer is a doer of good.
