Are there sins that nullify good deeds? And does repentance restore those deeds?
Repentance erases the sins that preceded it, even those that nullified good deeds, such as apostasy and drinking alcohol. So, whoever repents from a sin that led to the nullification of his deeds, his nullified deeds will be restored to him. This is indicated by the words of Allah Almighty: ﴿Except for those who repent, believe and do righteous work. For them Allah will change their evil deeds into good ones. And Allah is ever Forgiving and Merciful.﴾ [Al-Furqan:70], and the saying of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him: "The one who repents from sin is like one who has no sin."
