A woman's singing is forbidden due to the submissiveness in speech it entails, which is forbidden for the Mothers of the Believers. This is also analogized to the Sharia's prohibition of the call to prayer (adhan) and raising the voice when reciting the Quran for men. Singing is described as corruption, and its female practitioner as a corruptor, because she openly commits sin and corrupts morals, deeds, and livelihoods. The singer's hijab is valid in itself, but she must fear Allah and not misuse the hijab, becoming a cause for people to turn away from it or disdain it.
