What is Sharia?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

The Sharia is the entire religion that Allah has chosen for His servants. It encompasses what He has legislated for them of commands and prohibitions, and what is lawful and unlawful. It is the path that leads them from darkness into light. Following the Sharia leads to success, while violating it leads to Allah’s wrath and punishment. Allah has commanded its observance and forbidden following the whims of the ignorant.

Its reality lies in following and obeying the Messengers, and deviating from it is a deviation from their obedience. The Sharia includes everything that benefits humans in their lives, covering fundamentals and branches, states and actions, politics and interactions. The accepted methodology is that which follows the divine منهج (path/way) that Allah revealed to Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, and what the Prophet and his companions followed. As for conflicting methodologies, they are innovations that are not permissible to follow.
