How can one distinguish between mani and madhiy, and what is the color of a woman's mani?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

A woman's maniy (seminal fluid) is thin and yellow, and it may be white depending on the woman's strength. It has two characteristics: its smell is like the smell of a man's maniy (date palm pollen), and pleasure is felt upon its emission, followed by a subsiding of desire. One of these two characteristics is sufficient to determine that it is maniy, and ghusl (ritual bath) becomes obligatory upon its emission. When in doubt between maniy and madhiy (pre-seminal fluid), one may choose between their respective rulings, and this is the preferred view among the Shafi'is.
