Is fasting the six days of Shawwal considered an expiation for an oath that I broke by going to a place that I swore by God not to go to?

A Muslim should not make excessive oaths. If he swears to do something forbidden, he must fulfill it. If he swears to do something obligatory, he should break his oath and offer expiation. If he swears to do something permissible, he should choose the better option. If he breaks an oath, fasting is not permissible unless he is unable to feed ten poor people, clothe them, or free a slave. The intention to fast for expiation does not suffice for fasting the six days of Shawwal, as they are two independent acts of worship.
