Do animals have souls that the Angel of Death seizes?

There is no evidence from the Qur'an or Sunnah (definition) that specifies who seizes the souls of animals. Some traditions mention that the Angel of Death does not seize the soul of a mosquito except by Allah's command. Imam Malik bin Anas was asked whether the Angel of Death seizes the souls of fleas, and he replied in the affirmative, citing Allah's saying: "It is Allah who takes the souls at the time of their death." The matter is from the unseen, and the evidence is not explicit.
