Revelation and Knowledge of the Unseen (Ghaib): Revelation has been defined, and its types explained. Knowledge of the Unseen refers to knowing what is hidden from people. It is of two types: Absolute Unseen (Ghaib Mutlaq), which no one knows except Allah, and Relative Unseen (Ghaib Nisbi), which Allah may reveal to some of His servants through dreams (ru'ya), inspiration (ilham), or physiognomy (tafarrus).

Categories of Dreams: Dreams are of three types: righteous (mubashshirat from Allah), self-talk (hadith (definition) nafs), and fright from Satan. The Ahadith have clarified that a righteous dream is a part of prophethood.

Dreams and Legislation: A righteous dream is a revelation from Allah and a part of prophethood in terms of conveying news and glad tidings, but no legal ruling can be based on it, nor can any right be established by it.

Inspiration: Its meaning has been disputed. It is the attainment of truth without prophethood, and it can occur to the righteous and the wicked, the Muslim and the disbeliever. It can also be from Satan.
