Is the circulated story regarding the Prophet's (peace be upon him) conversation with Salman al-Farsi about speaking with the dead before death, and the subsequent details about death, authentic or not?

We have not come across a story of this nature concerning Salman al-Farisi. What has been authentically reported from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, suffices over what has not been authentically reported, especially regarding matters of the unseen. As for chanting the story and reciting it like the Quran, this is impermissible, as it may lead to mixing the Quran with other things, and this is prohibited as a preventative measure (sadd al-dhari'ah).
